Texas Power Purchase Agreements Approval

PUCT Docket No. 59034

To enhance system reliability and support the integration of economical resources, SPS filed an application seeking approval of six power purchase agreements with NextEra Energy for battery energy storage systems totaling 570 megawatts of capacity Dec. 9, 2025. The agreements are expected to cost about $99.3 million per year for the entire company in 2028, which will be the first full year all the battery facilities are running. Of that total, roughly $45.2 million will apply to Texas customers.

Energy Saving Tip

Set your hot water heater to no higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This isn't just energy smart—it's also safer, since it reduces the likelihood of accidental burns.

Break Ground, Not the Law

Always call 811 before digging in your yard to avoid hitting buried gas or electric lines. Not only is it the safe thing to do, but it's the law.
