Customer Support

Electric & Gas Affordability Programs

At Xcel Energy, we are committed to keeping costs low and addressing affordability for our customers. To further expand our affordability programs, we received approval from the the Colorado Public Utilities Commission to increase funding for our Electric Affordability Program (EAP) and our Gas Affordability Program (GAP), providing an additional 375%, or $47 million in support annually, to our most vulnerable customers.

Our affordability programs have helped Colorado natural gas and electric customers since 2009 and 2010, respectively. Under our expanded programs, an additional $24 million will be added to the EAP annually, while an additional $23 million annually will fund the GAP, ensuring the additional funding needs for these programs to assist more customers are met while enhancing the support currently provided to qualified customers.

The expanded funding will be provided through the Service and Facilities charge on monthly bills and represents an additional $1.48 a month on combined natural gas and electric residential customers’ bills.

The Service and Facilities charge supports costs related to customer service needs, including these two affordability programs. Customers will not be able to opt out of this charge.

Xcel Energy is committed to helping customers with their bills when they need it. We will always work with our customers to find ways to lower electricity use through energy efficiency options (external link)conservation programs (external link) and rebates (external link). We also provide payment plans (external link) and income-qualified assistance programs (external link) to get them through difficult times.

Energy Saving Tip

Install ceiling fans to keep cool air circulating so you can turn down your air conditioner. Still, make sure to turn off your fan when you leave the room.

Break Ground, Not the Law

Always call 811 before digging in your yard to avoid hitting buried gas or electric lines. Not only is it the safe thing to do, but it's the law.
