2024 Colorado Natural Gas Rate Review

Following significant investments in safety and natural gas system integrity programs to make Colorado’s natural gas system safer, more reliable and resilient for customers, Xcel Energy filed a request with its state regulator (the Colorado Public Utilities Commission or CPUC) on Jan. 29, 2024, to review the company’s natural gas rates.

The rate proposal supports projects which are largely already in service and the standard cost of operating the natural gas system including:

  • Increased safety and security initiatives.
  • Enhanced reliability and resiliency.
  • Preparedness for severe weather events.
  • A cleaner and smarter energy future.
  • Improvements for a better customer experience, while keeping energy affordable.

We’re sensitive to the financial pressures or customers face and recognize there’s never a good time to request a rate review—our rates are consistently below the rates charged by other utilities, and we remain committed to keeping them as low as possible.

Energy Saving Tip

Turn off your lights when you leave the room—even if you'll only be gone for a moment. Contemporary light bulbs require very little energy to turn "on."

Break Ground, Not the Law

Always call 811 before digging in your yard to avoid hitting buried gas or electric lines. Not only is it the safe thing to do, but it's the law.
