Windsource Product Content Label

Windsource® 2019 Historical and 2020 Prospective Product Content Label - Minnesota

The product is sold in blocks of 100 kilowatt-hours (kWh); with the option to choose 100% renewable energy. The product will be made up of the following new renewable resources averaged annually:

Notes:

  1. Prospective 2020 figures reflect the power that we have contracted to provide. Actual figures may vary according to resource availability. We will annually report to you before August 1 of next year in the form of a Historic Product Content Label the actual resource mix of the electricity you purchased. Historical 2019 figures reflect the power delivered to Windsource MN customers in 2019.

  2. Xcel Energy currently has 20 wind farms whose output is dedicated, or partially dedicated to the Windsource program. Xcel Energy also purchases renewable energy credits on an as needed basis from Minnesota wind farms that may have sold their energy to other utilities. New Renewables come from generation facilities that first began commercial operation within the past 15 years. This product includes generation from a facility that was approved for extended use by Green-e Energy.

  3. For comparison, the current average mix of resources supplying Northern States Power customers includes: coal (23%), nuclear (28%), natural gas (28%), wind (15%), other renewables (8%), and solar (3%).
