Customer Support

Windsource For Residences

Sign up for wind-sourced energy to power your home

Windsource® is a program that allows customers to pay a little extra every month to get some or all of their energy from renewable resources. And it costs less than the price of a latte.

As one of the nation's largest voluntary renewable energy programs, Windsource is an easy, inexpensive way to make a difference. Thanks to Windsource customers, the amount of renewable energy we produce today is above and beyond government requirements and continues to grow.

Your Windsource subscription is added right to your Xcel Energy bill, making it easy to go green. Our program is certified by Green-e Energy and regulated by the Public Utilities Commission, so you're also supporting additional local renewable energy.

Get Started

  1. Sign up today with our online application.

  2. Choose how much you want: one 100 kilowatt-hour block of renewable energy is enough to power all the lights in a typical home per month.* Already a Windsource customer? Consider adding more wind to your life. You can get up to 100% of your electricity from renewable energy (about 7-10 blocks per month for the average home).

  3. For questions regarding Windsource, please:

Pricing Information

Windsource subscriptions are available in 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) blocks for the small additional premium. Starting with one block, Windsource adds, on average, $0.0085/kWh to your energy cost (complete pricing information can be found at the Terms and Conditions link below). For an average home using 800 kWh in a month, that would total just $6.80/month to be 100% Windsource-powered. Peace of mind from clean energy is affordable and easy with Windsource.

Energy Saving Tip

Rather than crank up your heat in the winter, keep your thermostat at a moderate level and bundle up. (Who doesn't love fuzzy slippers?)
