Solar Power

We're harnessing the sun's power for you.

In the coming years, we plan to add more solar power to our system through large, universal solar projects that generate power for all customers and through special options for customers who want more. We have more than four times the solar energy on our system today than in 2011.

Offering Solar Variety

We support and provide all forms of solar power to meet customer interests, from universal solar projects to community gardens, to private rooftop systems, that power individual homes and businesses. We currently have more than 700 megawatts of large, universal solar capacity, which is enough to power more than 177,000 average-size homes for a year. We have also helped about 35,000 customers install solar panels through our Solar Rewards® program, and our community solar garden programs continue to grow. According to the Smart Electric Power Alliance, our Solar*Rewards Community® program in Minnesota is now the country's largest.

Letting Solar Shine

Through a number of collaborative efforts, we are helping advance the development of solar energy. We are the founding member of the Solar Technology Acceleration Center or SolarTAC, the country's largest outdoor test facility for solar technologies in Aurora, Colorado. We also support a number of other efforts through the Renewable Energy Development Fund and Colorado's Innovative Clean Technology program. Our participation keeps us informed and on the forefront of advances in solar technology.

Energy Saving Tip

Install ceiling fans to keep cool air circulating so you can turn down your air conditioner. Still, make sure to turn off your fan when you leave the room.

Break Ground, Not the Law

Always call 811 before digging in your yard to avoid hitting buried gas or electric lines. Not only is it the safe thing to do, but it's the law.
