Rocky Mountain is a natural gas-fired, combined cycle generation plant. It has three operating units. The plant provides Colorado with environmentally responsible energy to help meet the need for electricity, while also providing needed diversification for the state's fuel mix.

Rocky Mountain was formerly owned by Calpine Corporation. Xcel Energy purchased the plant in 2010.
