Plant History

Chippewa Falls Hydro was built in 1928 at the site of an old lumber mill.

Interesting Features

The project creates a small, narrow 282-acre flowage extending three miles upstream to the tailwater of Wissota Hydro. The facility dominates the scenery for visitors who enter Chippewa Falls from the south on the Highway 124 bridge.

Environmental Highlights

The reservoir created by the dam is small and is not used extensively for recreation. Fishing is light to moderate in the area and best in the tailrace of Chippewa Falls Hydro.
