Service Activation

To ensure we provide you with the very best service, we encourage you to contact and submit your work request before breaking ground on a project. If you would like updates on the status of your project, please make sure to include your email address on your application and in all correspondence.

Our new online application system is now available! FastApp allows registered users to build an online profile that makes it easier to create service applications. Overhead to Underground Conversion

We'll move your residential overhead electric lines to underground safely and properly (up to 400 amps).

Read our brochure (PDF) for full requirements, restrictions and an application form. Key details include:

  • Hire a licensed electrician to complete any necessary work beyond our wires, which go to the top of the mast. For safety reasons, we will not accept customer-installed underground service wire
  • The base fee is $340, plus $6.50 per foot of service wire. (This fee includes the materials and labor for installation.) You’ll also see an additional $2 underground monthly service charge on your Xcel Energy bill. Pole removal and winter installation charges are extra.
  • You must ensure an unobstructed 10-foot-wide minimum route for installation.
  • Installation does not include restoration of your yard back to its original condition.
  • You may need a permit for this type of work. Contact your city for details.
  • Other utilities (cable, phone, etc.) may charge additional fees. Contact them for details.
