Customer Support

Windsource For Electric Vehicles

Sign up for wind-sourced energy to power your electric car

Customers with electric vehicles can purchase clean, affordable, renewable energy to power their rides.

Windsource® is one of the nation’s largest voluntary green power programs, providing renewable energy above and beyond our other mandates.

When you drive an EV and purchase renewable energy from Windsource®, you’re supporting:

  • Lower vehicle fuel and operating costs
  • Air quality and other environmental improvements because these vehicles produce lower greenhouse gas and tailpipe emissions
  • Affordable and domestic renewable energy production that promotes electricity price stability

How It Works

  1. New customers, fill out an application online. Existing customers, call 1-800-895-4999.
  2. The Windsource® premium shows up right on your monthly bill.
  3. Proudly display the free EV bumper sticker we send you.

You can sign up for as little as one block or opt to have 100% of your electricity powered by Windsource.

In 2013, the net Windsource premium ranged from $0.17 to $0.81 per block, with an average price of $0.53. The fuel cost credit changes monthly, so your actual costs will vary.

Not sure how much energy you’ll need? Use this chart as a guideline.

Estimated annual all-electric miles Windsource blocks suggested Monthly cost for charging your EV with Windsource
0 to 4,000 1 <$1
4,001 to 8,000 2 <$2
8,001 to 12,000 3 <$3
> 12,000 4 <$4

You can also sign up to power your entire home, including the EV charging you do at home, with Windsource. For the average customer with an EV, that equates to roughly six to ten blocks per month, or between $3 and $10 per month.*

**Estimated cost based on average residential customer usage of 503 kWh/month, plus the added estimated electric use of a home EV charging station.

Energy Saving Tip

Rather than crank up your heat in the winter, keep your thermostat at a moderate level and bundle up. (Who doesn't love fuzzy slippers?)

Gas Meter Safety

Keep your natural gas meter dry and clear of snow and ice at all times to avoid the potential for dangerous indoor natural gas buildup.
