Ground Source Heat Pumps

Earn a cash rebate with the purchase of an eligible, high-efficiency ground source heat pump

Conserve energy and earn cash back

A ground source heat pump uses the earth’s natural heating and air conditioning system to keep you and your family warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Xcel Energy's rebate program can help offset the cost of investing in a ground source heat pump.

Benefits

Ground source heat pumps that earn the ENERGY STAR® rating use about 30 percent less energy than a standard ground source heat pump. That makes ground source heat pumps better for the environment and, with the energy cost savings, easier on your wallet.

Details

Xcel Energy customers in Minnesota may earn a cash rebate of up to $150 per ton for the purchase of an ENERGY STAR ® qualified ground source heat pump with a closed-loop system and a minimum 14.1 EER rating. Pump must be currently listed on the ENERGY STAR website.

How to Get Started

  1. Find a registered contractor.

  2. Purchase and install a new, qualifying ground source heat pump.

  3. Submit an application online. You can also download an application (PDF) or ask for one from your installing contractor.

    - If you purchased and installed new equipment in 2017, your rebate application must be postmarked by July 31, 2018.

Energy Saving Tip

Install ceiling fans to keep cool air circulating so you can turn down your air conditioner. Still, make sure to turn off your fan when you leave the room.
