No paperwork. Once your project is complete, we’ll take care of submitting your rebate applications and arrange to have the rebate check sent to you.

To participate, you must:

•  Be a Minnesota Xcel Energy business electricity and/or natural gas customer.
• Be constructing a new building, adding to an existing building, or renovating an existing space by gutting and replacing equipment.
• Have been accepted into the program through a qualifying application. Pre-approval is required.

Your project:

• Must be pre-approved prior to finalizing construction documents.
• Must include a minimum of two system changes, such as lighting and cooling.

Timing:

Apply for the Energy Efficient Buildings program services as early as possible, but before construction documents are complete, when there is still time to adjust plans to take advantage of identified energy saving opportunities.

What to expect:

• After your application is reviewed and approved, you'll receive an email to confirm your participation in the program.
• Our consultant will work with you and your contractors to review your design plans and identify energy efficiency opportunities.
• You'll receive a report, which includes our energy-saving recommendations, potential estimated annual energy savings, and rebate amounts you can earn.
• Once your construction project has been completed, our consultant will visit your site to make sure the efficiency strategies you chose are installed and working as expected.
• You'll receive a rebate check for all qualifying energy-saving opportunities within six to eight weeks.
