We are replacing residential natural gas pipeline throughout Colorado.
We are modernizing our natural gas system to ensure continued reliable and safe natural gas service. The Residential Gas Service Replacement Program will result in the replacement of 600 linear miles of natural gas pipeline throughout Colorado. Nearly 100 linear miles are in the Denver metro area, with the remainder being throughout the state.
Approximately one week before work starts, residents and businesses within a one block area of the construction will receive a door-hanger describing what to expect during construction and a letter from the contractor that includes a 24/7 contact phone number for that project. If there is natural gas construction in your area and you did not receive a door hanger, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. As we replace the natural gas pipeline, residents can expect:
As part of this program, where applicable, interior natural gas meters will be relocated to the exterior of homes in order to allow for improved access for safety inspections and in case of an emergency. We will notify you in advance if we need to relocate your natural gas meter. Most homes in our service area have natural gas meters located on the exterior of the structure. Some older homes, however, have natural gas meters located on the interior.
Exterior gas meters improve the efficiency of meter reading, and allow for improved access for required safety inspections and in case of an emergency. Relocation includes removal of the existing meter from interior walls, excavation at the new meter site at the exterior of the house, asphalt and sidewalk work, and rerouting of piping.

The residential gas service replacement program is a multi-year project that is occurring across the Denver Metro area on an as-needed basis. Because of shifting needs, we are not able to identify exact timeframes as to future project areas.)
