Our Energy Future

The Colorado Energy Plan

Now is the perfect time to take advantage of our state’s abundant renewable energy resources and available incentives that significantly lower the price you pay for electricity. That’s why Xcel Energy and a diverse group of stakeholders presented the Colorado Energy Plan to our state regulators, as part of our Electric Resource Plan proceeding. The Colorado Public Utilities Commission approved the Plan in August 2018.

With this approval, Xcel Energy now moves forward to implement the Plan, which includes new wind and solar capacity. It allows Xcel Energy to invest in Colorado’s economy, reduce emissions, and ensure reliable, affordable electricity years into the future. When complete, we will achieve nearly 55 percent renewable energy on our power grid by 2026, and reduce carbon emissions by about 60 percent from 2005 levels—all while keeping customer bills low.

Energy Saving Tip

Rather than crank up your heat in the winter, keep your thermostat at a moderate level and bundle up. (Who doesn't love fuzzy slippers?)
