Our Energy Future

Leading the way

We’ve cut our carbon emissions by 42% in Colorado, but we’re not stopping there. We’re more than halfway to our goal of an 80% reduction by 2030, and aiming to achieve 100% carbon-free electricity across our eight-state service territory by 2050.

Xcel Energy -- Colorado continues to move forward with the $2.5 billion Colorado Energy Plan, which includes construction of new wind, solar and storage capacity and retirement of two coal-fired power plants. It takes advantage of our state’s abundant wind and solar resources, along with available incentives that significantly lower the price you pay for electricity.

Empowering customers, the economy and technology.

Our Energy Future is the promise we announced in 2016 to exceed customers' expectations in producing and delivering power that is responsible, safe, affordable and reliable. It's built on three key elements:

  • Customer choice
  • Local economic development
  • Technological innovations

Since 2016, we've made giant strides with customers, business leaders, communities, and state officials to keep Colorado at the leading edge of energy policy. After all, it's everyone's energy future.

Break Ground, Not the Law

Always call 811 before digging in your yard to avoid hitting buried gas or electric lines. Not only is it the safe thing to do, but it's the law.
