Interconnection Guidelines For Parallel Operation of Distribution Connected Customer-Owned Generation   

This information applies to Xcel Energy service territories in Minnesota

It is Xcel Energy’s policy to facilitate any distributed generation consistent with federal, state, and tariff requirements that can be connected and operated safely.

NOTE: The Standard Interconnection and Power Purchase Tariff for 10 MW or less became effective on July 14, 2006. The Standard Interconnection and Power Purchase Tariff for 2 MW or less will be closed upon approval by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. Additionally, the Small Wind Tariff will be updated to utilize the interconnection requirements and standards in the 10 MW Tariff.

The following are links to Xcel Energy’s tariffs; after accessing the tariff, see the bookmarks on the left for each tariff.

1. Standard Distributed Generation Interconnection and Power Purchase Tariff for 10 MW or less;  Tariff Section 10; includes Interconnection Process, Interconnection Application Form, Engineering Data Submittal Form, Interconnection Agreement and technical information.
2. Distributed Generation Standard Interconnection and Power Purchase Tariff less than or equal to 2 MW; Tariff Section 10, includes interconnection requirements, power purchase contract, application to interconnect and the interconnection agreement.
3. Small Wind Tariff Tariff Section 10.
4. General Distributed Generation Tariff; Tariff Section 9, 0-40 kW net energy,  purchase & sale billing, time of day purchase service, rules for cogeneration and small power production facilities.
