Cooling Efficiency for Trade Partners

Increase your sales of energy-efficient cooling equipment by helping your customers receive cash incentives for buying and installing qualifying models. Through our Cooling Efficiency program we want to work with you to encourage customers to make energy-saving cooling choices.

Summary

  • Cooling Efficiency program overview
  • Customers can receive rebates on energy-efficient:
    • Chillers
    • Condensing units
    • Oversized cooling towers
    • Packaged terminal air conditioners (PTAC)
    • Rooftop units (RTU)
    • Split systems
    • Variable air volume (VAV) boxes
    • Water source heat pumps

Rebate application and guidelines

  • Complete pages 1, 4 and 5 of the application.
  • Be sure to have the customer sign the application prior to submittal.
  • Don’t forget about the Alternative Rebate Recipient option.
  • Include invoices with product model numbers and efficiencies when requested. We need copies of the information provided by the equipment manufacturer to validate efficiencies represented on rebate forms.
  • Be sure that chiller rebates include the manufacturer’s performance specs under ARI conditions.
  • Send the completed application to Xcel Energy.
  • Remember air-cooled chillers are not eligible for rebates under the Cooling Efficiency prescriptive program but may qualify for a rebate under the Custom Efficiency program if the installation results in significant energy savings over other alternatives.
  • Considering a geothermal or geoexchange cooling system? Just follow the requirements of the prescriptive rebates for water source heat pumps, but provide the efficiency of the unit rated at ARI conditions for water source heat pumps.
