Wisconsin Focus on Energy
Wisconsin conservation and efficiency efforts
The Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) is now administering all natural gas and electric conservation and efficiency efforts for Wisconsin. (In the past, utilities were directly responsible for these efforts.) This statewide program is called the Wisconsin Focus on Energy. There are three parts: Residential, Business, and Renewables.
The Residential program includes:
- Wisconsin Energy Star Homes Program (for new home buyers and builders)
- Home Performance with Energy Star (for existing residential homes)
- Energy Star appliance and lighting initiatives
- Multi-family buildings
The Business program includes several sectors: commercial, industry, agriculture, schools, and local government. Available no-cost services include:
- Assistance with energy efficiency projects
- Technical information and advice and training
- Access to experts (such as architects, engineers, vendors, and contractors)
- Referrals to available funding sources, including implementation grants, feasibility studies/service buy-down grants, and lending services (interest rate buy-downs and lease payment subsidies)
- Independent review of vendor proposals
- Help in preparing corporate energy plans
Focus on Energy’s Renewable Energy program also offers technical assistance and funding sources to help with project feasibility study and implementation. Please visit the Wisconsin Focus on Energy web site for more information, or call 1-800-762-7077 for detailed information and assistance.
