Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
Control the timing and amount of payments to maximize the use of your funds
Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) is different from our AutoPay payment option (automatic bank withdrawal) because it allows you to simplify your bill paying process by directly transferring money from your account to Xcel Energy when you choose.
EFT transactions, also known as EDI-820 payments, are initiated by you using the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network that is part of the Federal Reserve Bank system. We accept Corporate Trade Exchange (CTX) file formats. As a result, you will be able to pay your Xcel Energy bill using your CTX software, or your third party vendor - if they have CTX capabilities.
Not familiar with EFT?
Please review the steps of how the program works first before completing the Electronic Funds Transfer Customer Information Form.
Already familiar with EFT?
Here’s how you get started with Xcel Energy:
- Ensure your company has the capability to transmit CTX formatted EDI-820 payments through your company purchased software or through a payment processor or your bank.
- Complete the Electronic Funds Transfer Customer Information Form and return as indicated. The form is also available by contacting our Business Solutions Center.
