Central AC Tune-up Program

How Energy Efficient is your Central AC System?

It’s easier than you might think to help the environment and conserve energy this summer. Xcel Energy has teamed up with Proctor Engineering Group to offer residential customers the opportunity to ensure your air conditioning system is running at its peak efficiency with CheckMe! ®, a comprehensive service inspection.

What is CheckMe!?

CheckMe!, designed by Proctor Engineering Group and performed by trained and certified technicians, is a computer diagnostic system that measures the performance of your central air conditioning system. The CheckMe! system ensures that both refrigerant charge and airflow through the evaporator coil are properly tested and correctly adjusted--two factors that affect the efficiency of your system.

Is it time to Check it?

If your air conditioner is at least one year old, it’s probably time to have your system tested. If it passes the CheckMe! test, you’ll know your air conditioner is running at its peak efficiency.

If it doesn’t pass the CheckMe! test, your technician will discuss the recommended repairs and associated costs with you*.

Eligibility

  • Your central air conditioning system must be at least one year old.
  • Systems with or without a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) are eligible to participate. Your CheckMe! Technician will know at the time of your appointment if your system has a TXV.
  • You must be an Xcel Energy residential electric customer in Colorado to participate.
  • You’ll need to use a participating Checkme! technician to qualify for the program.
  • The tune-up must occur prior to December 31, 2008.

Please Note: Be sure to have your Xcel Energy bill on hand at the time of your appointment. You will need to show it to your technician so they can record your account number and premise number.
