Question: How does it work?

Answer:

Each month you’ll receive an email from CheckFree when your bill is ready. Go to CheckFree to view your bill summary. If you want to pay online you can choose to make your payment at least two business days before the due date to ensure proper credit to your account. Select “Pay” to initiate the withdrawal from your checking or savings account. Your payment will be applied to your Xcel Energy account within two business days.

You can even schedule payments up to one year in advance. In this case, your payment will be withdrawn from your account on the due date as long as you schedule a date that is at least two business days prior to the due date.

You can also choose to only view your bill summary and payment status, without paying online, allowing you alternative options for paying your bill.  For example if you are using our Auto Pay option, your payment will be withdrawn on the payment due date.
