Question: How do I sign up?

Sign up at CheckFree Express Enrollment. It’s free.

If you sign up at any other portal location, a fee may be required.

New to e-billing? Follow our step-by-step instructions below:

• Go to CheckFree Express Enrollment
• Click on the enrollment link and follow these four easy steps to sign up:
  • Enter your personal information. Make sure the name you use for CheckFree matches the name on your Xcel Energy bill.
  • Choose your username and password. You must memorize or write down your username and password; Xcel Energy does not have access to this information if you lose it. CheckFree also offers a 'clue' system to help you remember your password.
  • Review the terms and conditions.
  • Click Agree at the bottom of the page.
• Once you are enrolled, select Xcel Energy as your biller
• Verify your billing information:
  • Enter your 10 digit Xcel Energy account number (from your paper Xcel Energy bill). Important: You must use all 10 digits of your account number, including any leading zeros.
  • Again, make sure that the name you use for CheckFree matches the name on your energy bill. Follow the same instructions while signing in from any of the portal locations mentioned below.
  • Usually the service address is the same as the address you entered when you signed up with CheckFree. If you are paying for a different service address, click the Change button to enter the correct service address. (Note: This will not affect your CheckFree profile; just your billing information for Xcel Energy.)
• Confirm your billing information by re-entering your 10-digit account number. Click Add.
• Add the information for your payment account. Click Continue.
• Bookmark the site so you can get back to check your bills each month. This is the site that you will always use in the future to view or pay your bills. Unless you use Auto Pay, check this site each month for your latest bill and choose the "Pay" button to initiate the withdrawal from your bank account. If you wish, you may sign up to pay other bills on this site as well, but there may be a fee.
