Question:
I was gone during this billing period and my bill hasn't changed. Why?
Answer:
Even when you’re not at home, several appliances continue to run and expend energy. Your furnace, water heater, computer, refrigerator and freezer are good examples of appliances that run even when you’re gone. Remember that your water heater warms the water to a certain temperature and maintains that temperature even if no water is used. When you leave for vacation, consider adjusting this appliance to the lowest setting and leaving yourself a note so you remember to turn it back up upon return.
Also consider the weather during your absence and the time surrounding your absence. Around popular vacation times, many people have visitors and holiday celebrations, which expend more energy than usual.
