375 MW Base Load Certificate of Need - Minnesota PUC Docket No. E002/CN-06-1518
We have initiated a resource acquisition process to satisfy 375 MW of base load generation needed in 2015. This need was approved by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (“Commission”) in an Order dated July 28, 2006 in Xcel Energy’s 2004 Resource Plan (Docket No. E002/RP-04-1752).
On November 1, 2006 we filed a Certificate of Need application (CoN) to signal the beginning of a new competitive resource acquisition process for generation resources recently established by the Commission. The contents of the CoN describe and support the Company’s preferred plan for addressing the base load resource need. Interested parties are invited to submit their own proposals as alternatives for consideration by the Commission. Alternative proposals are due to the Commission by 4:30 pm on Monday, December 18, 2006.
