Mercury Reduction Plans
Under the Minnesota Mercury Emissions Reduction Act of 2006 (“MMERA”), the Company is required to submit mercury reduction plans for dry-scrubbed units, which includes our Sherco Unit 3 and King plant by December 31, 2007 to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. We are excited to offer these mercury Plans as they outline a major effort to reduce mercury emissions at our King Plant and Sherco Unit 3. Cleaner air, reliable electricity service, and reasonable prices are priorities for our customers and our Company. These proposals describe the analysis and considerations that have led us to offer these plans for the Commission and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to consider.
