Vice President and General Counsel

Michael C. Connelly is vice president and general counsel.

Before being named vice president and general counsel in 2007, Connelly was vice president of Human Resources, where he was responsible for developing the strategy and implementing programs to attract, retain and engage employees necessary to the success of Xcel Energy. Before serving in Human Resources, Connelly was vice president and deputy general counsel. He was a senior attorney with Northern States Power Company for 10 years prior to the 2000 merger with New Century Energies that created Xcel Energy. His initial employment after gaining his law degree was as an associate with Oppenheimer, Wolff and Donnelly in St. Paul, Minn.

He currently serves on the board of directors for the Twin Cities Housing Development Corporation,The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library and the Greater Twin Cities United Way.
