Volunteer Partnerships

Xcel Energy hosted Sanford Middle School 6th graders at the annual year-end school partnership celebration at Chestnut Service Center in Minneapolis. Forty-five volunteer e-mentors and their Sanford mentees had been working together during the past year in an e-mail mentoring program to help improve students' writing skills.

Xcel Energy has had a long and successful partnership with organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Junior Achievement and Habitat for Humanity.
Retiree volunteers provide their expertise to the Salvation Army and take pride in their signature volunteer program, the Kitchen Appliance Marking Program for visually-impaired customers.
You are likely to see Xcel Energy volunteers at countless community events, from building the St. Paul Winter Carnival Ice Palace to dancing in costume in the Minneapolis 'Holidazzle' parade or at the 'Parade of Lights' in Denver.
Xcel Energy has special relationships with Annunciation School in Denver and Sanford Middle School in Minneapolis. Our employee and retiree volunteers work closely with these schools to provide much-needed services. We collect school supplies, books, holiday food and gifts for Annunciation students and their families. Employees visit Annunciation to help students improve their reading skills and teach economic education through Junior Achievement.
In weekly e-mail sessions, Minneapolis employees serve as mentors to students at Sanford Middle School. Students and mentors meet several times during the school year to tour Xcel Energy facilities and discuss careers in the utility industry. Xcel Energy provides speakers for school events and company support for cultural celebrations at the school.
