Support for the United Way

2006 United Way campaign

Xcel Energy cares about the communities in which we serve, work and live. That's why we share a long and generous history of giving time and funding to United Way and the programs it supports. We know we're helping our neighbors, friends, families and customers.

Through our 2006 United Way campaign, "Lead the Way", Xcel Energy employees contributed $2,122,000 to 164 United Ways across our service territory. The generosity of our employees is humbling, and United Ways across the country. We're grateful! The Xcel Energy Foundation matched employee's gifts dollar-for-dollar, and contributed an additional $192,000 in in-kind services for a total contribution of more than $4.3 million of critical community support.

The employees and retirees of Xcel Energy are recognized nationally as leaders in corporate citizenship. In May of 2006, United Way of America recognized Xcel Energy's people with the Summit Award for Community Leadership, as part of their prestigious Spirit of America awards program. Our campaign was also recognized for excellence by regional United Way chapters including the Greater Twin Cities United Way, which selected Xcel Energy as "Best in Show, Large Company" for the 2005 campaign.

Xcel Energy is a member of the  United Way of America National Corporate Leadership Council.
