Education Initiatives
At Xcel Energy, we know the value of education and we believe it’s important to start early when teaching children how to use energy safely and wisely.
Many of our educational programs are designed to teach K-6 students about energy – how it is produced, how to use electricity and natural gas safely and how conservation helps us protect the environment:
-
-
Energy Classroom, downloadable and interactive materials for teaching students in grades 3 to 5 about energy. These hands-on tools were developed by energy experts and trial-tested by teachers in real classroom situations.
-
Safety World, designed to help elementary-grade children have fun learning about electric and natural gas safety.
The Xcel Energy Foundation supports math, science and economic education programs for students in kindergarten through college. We are committed to funding education programs throughout our service territory, in both urban and rural communities.
Our power plant tours provide on-site education in the safe and effective operation of Xcel Energy power generating plants.
