Question: What role does natural gas play in electric generation?

Answer:

On a national level, natural gas provides 18.1 percent of the country’s electricity supply, coal generation 50.1 percent; nuclear generation 20.3 percent, hydropower and other renewables 9.1 percent; and oil generation provides 2.4 percent.
