CapX 2020 

Xcel Energy is a partner in CapX 2020, a joint initiative of 11 transmission-owning utilities in Minnesota and surrounding states. Its purpose is to expand the electric transmission grid to ensure customers continue to receive reliable, low-cost electricity. It also will increase access to renewable energy sources. The first group of CapX 2020 proposed projects is made up of three 345-kilovolt (kV) transmission lines, one 230-kV line and associated substations. The proposed lines represent one of the largest single transmission initiatives in the region in decades, spanning nearly 700 miles.
