Xcel Energy requests no changes in electric and natural gas rates
EAU CLAIRE, WIS. - Xcel Energy filed its biennial retail electric and natural gas rate case with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin yesterday requesting no change in its retail electric and natural gas rates through December 2004. Xcel Energy has not changed base electric or natural gas rates since 1998, other than adjustments to reflect the changing cost of fuel.
“We are very pleased to announce that we will continue to maintain our low rates for our customers,” said Mike Swenson, president and CEO of NSP-Wisconsin. “Offering low rates is important to our customers and the economic vitality of our service territory in northern and western Wisconsin.”
In the filing, Xcel Energy reserves the option to file for a rate adjustment in 2005 should costs increase significantly from the 2004 budget levels.
Xcel Energy has the lowest residential electric rates among the state’s major investor-owned utilities.
