Xcel Energy board elected
DENVER - Xcel Energy shareholders today elected their 11-member board of directors at the corporation’s annual meeting.
Company shareholders in 2004 adopted a proposal to elect all board members annually. The 2006 annual meeting, which was held at the Donald R. Seawell ballroom of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, marked the first time all board members’ terms expired concurrently.
Richard K. Davis of Minneapolis, president and chief operating officer of U.S. Bancorp, and Fredric W. Corrigan of Plymouth, Minn., president and chief executive officer of The Mosaic Co., were elected to their first terms on the Xcel Energy board of directors.
Re-elected were C. Coney Burgess, chairman of Burgess-Herring Ranch Co. and Herring Bank; Roger R. Hemminghaus, retired chairman and CEO of Ultramar Diamond Shamrock Corp.; A. Barry Hirschfeld, chairman of National Hirschfeld LLC; Richard C. Kelly, chairman, president and CEO of Xcel Energy; Douglas W. Leatherdale, retired chairman and CEO of The St. Paul Companies Inc.; Albert F. Moreno, retired senior vice president and general counsel of Levi Strauss & Co.; Margaret R. Preska, CEO of Robinson Preska Co.; A. Patricia Sampson, CEO and president of The Sampson Group Inc.; and Richard H. Truly, retired U.S. Navy vice admiral and past director of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Shareholders also voted to retain Deloitte & Touche LLP as the company’s principal independent accountants for 2006, and they rejected a shareholder proposal requesting that the board of directors separate the roles of chairman of the board and chief executive officer.
