Reference: Highlands Ranch Customers Can Use Special Number For Questions about Electricity Service
DENVER - Xcel Energy has set up a comment line specifically for Highlands Ranch customers interested in the numerous projects designed to improve electricity service to the area.
"Highlands Ranch is one of our fastest growing neighborhoods, and Xcel Energy has several projects scheduled to make sure the company's electricity service keeps up with the community's growth," said Cynthia Evans, Colorado vice president. "We created this comment line to encourage customers to contact us with questions they may have about our activities."
The new comment line for Highlands Ranch customers is 303-980-3914. The line is intended for questions and comments about system improvements only. Customers should continue to report outages and emergencies to the Xcel Energy customer service line at 303-623-1234.
In order to better serve the Highlands Ranch community, Xcel Energy has several projects currently underway and planned for the near future, in addition to projects already completed. Since last year, the company has installed five transformers and four primary distribution lines at three substations serving Highlands Ranch and surrounding communities. This work includes the new Surrey Ridge substation, which helps alleviate electricity demands on other substations serving the area. The company is continuing to install distribution cables throughout the area, and has plans to construct another substation.
“These are significant construction projects that our customers will notice,” said Evans. “But we promise to keep the inconvenience to a minimum, and we’re confident that once these projects are completed, our customers will notice and appreciate improved service.”
Construction crews will work during business days whenever possible, but may have to work at night in an emergency to prevent an outage. Crews may also have to uproot grass and trees to complete the necessary system improvements, but will replant all vegetation and return the area to its natural state.
Xcel Energy was created August 18, 2000 by the merger of Minneapolis-based Northern States Power Co. and Denver-based New Century Energies, parent company of Public Service Co. of Colorado.
