Xcel Energy Foundation announces education grants

FARGO, N.D. - The Xcel Energy Foundation has announced the recipients of 167 education grants for a total of $1.6 million across the company’s 11-state service territory.

The foundation’s Supporting Education focus area grants are determined annually, and support math, science and economic education programs. Locally, grants totaling $32,500 were provided to:

  • Fargo Public Schools Development Foundation to provide grants to teachers and schools for innovative learning science and math projects.
  • Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest, Inc., to help fund a community program that provides students with an economic education and promotes their financial literacy.
  • Minnesota State University Moorhead Alumni Foundation, Inc., for scholarships for students majoring in Industrial Technology with a focus on energy issues. 
  • North Dakota State University Development Foundation for scholarships to be awarded to students with a career interest in science, math or the energy industry.
  • Northern Lights Council, Boy Scouts of America to offer scholarships for families unable to pay the full cost of the scouting program.
  • Prairie Public Broadcasting to support the broadcast of programming aimed at educating school-age children in the areas of science and math.
  • University of Mary to augment the variety and scope of leadership skill experiences.  The program links students with potential employers and equips them with meaningful work experiences during their academic preparation.
