Our products and services differ based on state. Please select your state (or the state you're interested in) from the list to the left.

Why do our products and services differ based on state? Because our business is regulated by state. We have regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. The different regulatory body for each state we serve determines what products and services we deliver in that state.

Time-of-Use Rate Availability

Is there a minimum amount of time a customer must have had service at a given address?

Yes. There must be 12 months of consumption and demand history in order to determine whether or not the 30% minimum load factor criteria is met.

If my application is marked "eligible" for SPVTOU, am I guaraneteed to be on the rate?

No. You will only be guaranteed when you are put on the rate. In order to be put on the rate, there will have to be room under the "cap" at the time your net meter is ordered.

Is there a minimum time I must be on this rate once I have it?

Yes. According to the tariff, you must remain on the rate for a minimum of 12 consecutive billing periods after your begin. Once that requirement is met, you can be removed at any time after providing the Company with a written request and 30 days notice.

What is I already installed my PV system and completed my Solar*Rewards application?

Systems which have had a net meter ordered after June 1, 2010 are eligible for consideration. To apply, please send an email to MediumSolarProgram@xcelenergy.com and provide the premise number you would like to have evaluated. We will verify eligibility and send you an email with the results.

Who should I contact to help me undertand if this is a good rate for me to be on?

If you have an Account Manager at Xcel Energy, you should contact them to help understand the impact of going on this rate. The other option is to call the Business Solutions Center at 1-800-481-4700.

If I indicate interest in SPVTOU on my application and am considered eligible, will I automatically be put on the rate if there is availability when my net meter is ordered?

Yes. That is why it is important for you to decide upfront that you want this rate. Once on the rate, you cannot change to a different rate for 12 months. After 12 months, you will be required to request a rate change in writing.

Will the application for the SPVTOU be part of the online application process for Solar*Rewards that is already in existence? Or will it be a separate location and document?

Interest in and application for this rate has been integrated into the current online application system and our internal review process.

What type of metering is used for SPVTOU customers?

If a customer selects this rate option, Xcel will install a bi-directional interval data meter with two channels of mass memory for the main billing/net meter. The on/off peak intervals will be pulled from interval data. The PV production meter is not used for any TOU on/off peak measurements.
