Choose your state

Our products and services differ based on state. Please select your state (or the state you're interested in) from the list to the left.

Why do our products and services differ based on state? Because our business is regulated by state. We have regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. The different regulatory body for each state we serve determines what products and services we deliver in that state.

Peak Day Partners - NM, TX

Peak Day Partners

Eligibility

  • Xcel Energy New Mexico and Texas customers with the ability to reduce load by at least 500 kW.
  • Customers already participating in Xcel Energy's Interruptible Credit Option program may participate if they are able to reduce load by at least 500 kW below their contract Firm Demand level.
  • Customers with on-site generation will be asked to identify the amount of load replaced by their own generators.

Description

As a voluntary load control program, the Peak Day Partners (PDP) Program is a partnership designed to reduce energy supply costs. The program allows Xcel Energy to purchase energy from retail customers when energy market prices are exceptionally high. Registered customers may volunteer to provide energy by reducing their load after reaching a price agreement with Xcel Energy for that energy.

How the Program Works

Participants in the program will be offered a price per kilowatt for controlling their load on PDP declared days. If they accept the offer, Xcel Energy will pay the participant based on the load they voluntarily reduced.

How to Get Started

  • Sign an Enabling Agreement that outlines the general terms of the Peak Day Partners program
  • Provide us with the customer’s contact information so they can be notified of a control event
  • The customer must review the PDP users guide so they know how to respond to a control event
