Overview
Receive a free (no obligation) lighting audit performed by Franklin Energy. Then implement needed improvements that are right for your small to midsized business, which can earn significant rebates and lead to lower energy costs.
Our Small Business Lighting program offers rebates on a wide range of lighting upgrades.

- Call our lighting consultant, Franklin Energy at 575-627-7400 and schedule a free (no obligation) audit at your facility.
- After conducting the free lighting audit, Franklin Energy will recommend cost-effective, energy-efficient lighting options for your business.
- Once you decide which option is best for you, Franklin Energy will serve as a liaison between you and your lighting contractor throughout the retrofit process to ensure quality installation (or help you locate a contractor if you don’t have one).
- Franklin Energy will assist you in completing and submitting any paperwork required to receive your rebates. For a full list of qualifying equipment and rebate amounts, see the applications listed below.
Who Qualifies
To qualify, you must:
- Be a small business electric customer of Xcel Energy in New Mexico.
- Have a peak demand of 400 kW or less.
Qualifying Equipment
Qualified equipment and applications for prescriptive rebates include:
- High-efficiency fluorescent T8 fixtures—retrofits and lamp reduction (delamping)
- Fluorescent T5 retrofits
- Installing CFL lamps or fixtures
- High-bay fluorescent fixtures
- LED exit signs and
- Occupancy sensors, to name a few
Now, LED Lighting equipment is also eligible including:
- ENERGY STAR®-qualified interior, screw-in or pin-based LED lamps—up to 20 watts
- ENERGY STAR-qualified interior LED luminaires/downlights—up to 50 watts
- Visit energystar.gov/sslpartners to find qualifying equipment
- Exterior LED canopy and soffit fixtures—25 to 150 watts1
- Refrigerated LED case lighting for doors of five and six feet1

Note: Applications and equipment that are not qualified for prescriptive rebates may be eligible for a Custom Efficiency rebate (preapproval is required).

Rebate applications for 2012 T12 lighting upgrades were due on 4/1/2013. Qualifying equipment must have been invoiced and installed on or before 12/31/2012; applications must be have submitted within 12 months of the invoice date or no later than 4/1/2013, whichever came first.
As of 2013, we are no longer offering 2012-level prescriptive rebates for T12 retrofits. Custom T12 projects preapproved prior to 12/31/2012 have until 11/30/2013 to be installed, invoiced, and submitted. Projects requiring re-evaluation will use standard efficiency T8 as the baseline going forward, standard efficiency T8 fixture will be used as the baseline.
