FINAL – April 2013 program suspension update

Thank you for expressing interest in the Lighting Efficiency program in South Dakota.

Due to the overwhelming response to the Lighting Efficiency program, the 2013 program funds for projects in South Dakota were exhausted. As a result, we had to suspend the 2013 program and stop taking applications as of April 1, 2013.

Please note these important points:

• We plan to resume the program in early 2014, pending approval from the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission (PUC).
• Any projects completed and invoiced during the program’s suspension from April 1, 2013, until the program resumes will not be eligible for rebate.

Any projects that were submitted by April 1, 2013, will continue to be processed in the order we received them. Additionally, any rebate applications that were submitted by April 1, 2013, that can't be paid in 2013 will be targeted for processing in 2014, pending PUC approval.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and understand the disappointment of delayed rebate payments and interruptions in program availability.

Rebates for South Dakota businesses are available for lighting retrofits and new construction lighting. Nearly every business can save money and earn rebates through improving lighting efficiency - as much as 50% of lighting costs.

Rebate programs include:

• Lighting retrofit rebates – Available for existing facilities of any size, these rebates offset the cost of installing new, more efficient lighting than what you currently have.
• New construction lighting rebates – Available for new facilities or those going through major renovations, we reward you for choosing more efficient lighting than standard options.

• Lighting costs make up as much as 44% of a monthly energy bill
• Up to 90% of lighting cost is energy used during its lifetime – it pays to invest in more efficient equipment
• Nearly every business has opportunities to upgrade lighting – such as replacing old T12 fluorescent lighting systems
• You can reduce your lighting costs by as much as 50% or more with efficient equipment
• With our rebates, your upfront investment typically pays for itself in less than three years, with additional savings lasting much longer
