As part of Business New Construction, we offer unique programs designed to fit the specific needs of business customers considering a new construction or major renovation project and work with your builders, contractors and architects. Programs offered include:
- Energy Design Assistance (EDA) – a custom whole building integrated, modeling approach
- Energy Efficient Buildings (EEB) – a prescriptive whole building calculator approach

Who Qualifies
To qualify, you must be:
- An Xcel Energy business electricity and/or natural gas customer in Colorado.
- Constructing a new building, adding to an existing building or renovating an existing space by gutting and replacing equipment.
- Accepted into the program through a qualifying application (preapproval required).
- Have a minimum square footage. Visit the specific program links for square footage requirements.
The best time to consider energy-efficient options for your building’s design, materials and equipment is before you break ground. To qualify for our free service, contact us as early as possible in the design process. The graphic below shows the required timeline for preapproval of both the EDA and the EEB programs.

Both programs support the development of appropriate, cost-effective strategies and verify that correct strategies are in place and operating.
