Through the free (no obligation) lighting audit, Franklin Energy, will:

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend optimal lighting choices.
  • Serve as liaison between you and your vendor.
  • Complete and submit your rebate paperwork.

Who Qualifies

To qualify, you must:

  • Be a small or midsized business electric customer of Xcel Energy in Colorado.
  • Have a peak demand of 400 kW or less.

How to Get Started

  • Call our lighting consultant, Franklin Energy at 1-877-287-2250 and schedule a free (no obligation) audit at your facility.
  • After conducting the free (no obligation) lighting audit, Franklin Energy will recommend cost-effective, energy-efficient lighting options for your business.
  • Once you decide which option is best for you, Franklin Energy will serve as a liaison between you and your lighting contractor throughout the retrofit process to ensure quality installation (or help you locate a contractor if you don’t have one).
  • Franklin Energy will assist you in completing and submitting any paperwork required to receive your rebates.

Qualifying Equipment

Qualified equipment and applications for prescriptive rebates include:

  • High-efficiency fluorescent T8 fixturesretrofits and lamp reduction (delamping)
  • Fluorescent T5 retrofits
  • Installing CFL lamps or fixtures
  • High-bay fluorescent fixtures
  • LED exit signs and
  • LED wall pack fixtures
  • Parking garage T8 lamps
  • Occupancy sensors, to name a few
  • ENERGY STAR®-qualified interior LED screw-in or pin-based lamps
  • ENERGY STAR-qualified interior LED luminaires/downlights
  • Exterior LED canopy and soffit fixtures1
  • Refrigerated LED Case Lighting for five and six foot doors1
  • T12 to T8 optimization retrofits

1 Exterior canopy and soffit lighting, and refrigerated case lighting does not have a requirement to be ENERGY STAR qualified.

Additional Information

Rebate applications for 2012 T12 lighting upgrades were due on 5/1/2013. Qualifying equipment must have been invoiced and installed on or before 12/31/2012; applications must be have submitted within 12 months of the invoice date or no later than 5/1/2013, whichever came first. Prescriptive optimization rebates for T12 retrofits are available as of 5/1/2013. Please reference program rules on the application for additional information.

All other T12 fixtures upgrades may still qualify for a rebate through our Custom Efficiency program. Custom T12 projects preapproved prior to 12/31/2012 have until 11/30/2013 to be installed, invoiced, and submitted. Projects requiring re-evaluation will use standard efficiency T8 as the baseline going forward, standard efficiency T8 fixture will be used as the baseline.

Customers had until 5/1/2013 to submit completed applications for LED projects invoiced and installed before 1/1/2013 to claim the higher rebate amount.
