Choose your state

Our products and services differ based on state. Please select your state (or the state you're interested in) from the list to the left.

Why do our products and services differ based on state? Because our business is regulated by state. We have regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. The different regulatory body for each state we serve determines what products and services we deliver in that state.

Refrigerator Recycling

Minnesota customers can save $100 a year by recycling their old refrigerators.

Overview

Help the environment, save $100 a year through lower energy bills and get a $35 check for recycling that old, second, energy-guzzling fridge. We’ll even haul it away for free.

Benefits

  • Prevent emissions of green house gases and ozone-depleting refrigerants by preventing their release from refrigerants and insulating foams in your ancient refrigerator
  • Recycle metals, plastics and glass, saving landfill space and energy
  • Save up to $100 a year in energy costs by reducing your consumption
  • Save space in your garage or basement for your car, lawnmowers and more
  • Get $35 for letting us haul your refrigerator away for free!

Who Qualifies

To participate in the program you must:

  • Be a residential electric customer of Xcel Energy living in Minnesota
  • Provide a valid Xcel Energy account number
  • Have the appliance picked up from the residential address listed on your billing account
  • Own the refrigerator you are recycling
  • Have the operational secondary refrigerator unit in your home for at least six months. (No primary units will be recycled.)
  • Only recycle one refrigerator per program year

The refrigerator to be recycled must be 10-30 cubic feet. Most miniature and commercially-sized refrigerators do not qualify.
