Choose your state

Our products and services differ based on state. Please select your state (or the state you're interested in) from the list to the left.

Why do our products and services differ based on state? Because our business is regulated by state. We have regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. The different regulatory body for each state we serve determines what products and services we deliver in that state.

¹Certain restrictions and criteria do apply in order to be eligible for these rebates.

²Do not require using a Participating Contractor. May use any contractor or self-install these measures.

  1. Customers are not eligible to receive rebates from Home Performance and other Xcel Energy program for the same improvement;
  2. Customer invoices/receipts must be dated after their audit date and after the date of sign-up for the Home Performance program;
  3. The test-out inspection must be satisfactorily completed;
  4. Customers must meet all program requirements to be eligible for any of the Home Performance rebates;
  5. Unless otherwise indicated, improvements must be completed by an Xcel Energy Participating Installation Contractor (PIC)
  6. Central AC units must be installed by an Xcel Energy Participating Central AC Contractor found on the PIC list. To be eligible for a rebate through this program, the contractor must fill out the 2013 High Efficiency Cooling Rebate form for proper Quality Install information. This paperwork should be turned in with the HPwES application after the test-out is complete.
  7. Program is contingent on availability of funds and could be terminated at any time.

Who Qualifies

To participate, you must:

  • Be a combined residential natural gas and electric customer of Xcel Energy in Minnesota.
  • Complete a Standard Audit ($60 fee) or Standard Audit with Infrared ($100 fee).
  • Implement the three required and at least two of the elective improvements.

Rebates are issued after our partner, The Neighborhood Energy Connection (NEC), verifies that the improvements were done properly and then processes your rebate paperwork.

Note: If you have already earned a rebate through a different Xcel Energy program, you cannot receive another rebate for the same improvement.

How to Get Started

You must have completed our Home Energy Audit (either the Standard Audit or Standard Audit with Infrared) at your residence in the past three years.

Otherwise, call us at 1-800-895-4999 to schedule an audit and tell us you’re calling to qualify for the Home Performance Rebate program. The Standard Audit costs $60 and the Standard Audit with Infrared is $100. For more information, download the program brochure.

Getting started is as easy as these four steps:

  1. Sign up for the program by calling our partner, Neighborhood Energy Connection (NEC), Danielle Butenhoff, 651-221-4462 x136. You may also sign up through email: danielleb@thenec.org

    Note: This program starts with a Home Energy Audit. If you haven’t had one already, please apply online or call us at 1-800-895-4999 to submit your request for an audit.
  2. Choose a participating contractor. Have a participating contractor install your recommended improvements.

    Note: All measures must be installed by a participating contractor except those previously noted.
  3. Call NEC at 651-221-4462 ext.136 after the improvements have been installed, and they will come to inspect and verify that the improvements have been completed.
  4. NEC will collect your receipts and submit your rebate paperwork for you.
