Overview
Colorado businesses can earn rebates on improvements to building controls with our Energy Management Systems (EMS) program.
We offer funds to help you automate energy intensive functions in order to power equipment only when needed. As a result, you get increased efficiency and lower energy bills year after year.
You must receive preapproval before you purchase or install any equipment.
Benefits
We offer rebates to help offset the cost of installing your building automation system. Whether you’re installing a new EMS or increasing capabilities by adding control points to your current EMS system, our rebates can shorten the payback period and improve the return on your investment.
An EMS allows you to:
- Integrate equipment monitoring and control.
- Centralize building system operations.
- Enhance tenant comfort, increase customer satisfaction and reduce nuisance calls.
- Cut energy waste and reduce operating expenses.
Who Qualifies
To qualify, you must:
- Be a business electricity and/or natural gas customer of Xcel Energy, Inc. in Colorado.
- Receive preapproval prior to purchase and installation of your equipment.
- Purchase new equipment only (used equipment does not qualify)
- Retrofit the EMS in an existing building (new construction projects may be eligible through our Business New Construction programs).
Qualifying Equipment
Potential projects include central controls for:
- Lighting
- HVAC
- CO2 Sensors and outside air management
- Pumps
- Boilers
Preapproval is required before you purchase or install any equipment.
How to Get Started
- Complete and submit the application/worksheet per included instructions. You must receive preapproval prior to purchase and installation of your equipment.
- To reduce processing time and increase your potential rebate, include as much information as possible on these forms.
- You will receive a letter describing whether your project is approved and the rebate amount (so you’ll know the rebate before you commit to the project).
