Rebates for custom energy-saving equipment and processes
Overview
If you have an improvement that does not qualify for one of our traditional business rebate programs, you may still be eligible for a rebate.
Through our Custom Efficiency program, we’ll help you lower your operating costs with rebates on a wide variety of equipment and process improvements that lead to energy savings for your business.
You can earn money back for choosing energy efficient investments that exceed standard options but are not covered under our other programs. The more energy your project saves, the more you can earn in rebate dollars – up to $400 per kilowatt (kW) saved and up to $5 per dekatherm (Dth) saved.
All Custom Efficiency projects require preapproval prior to purchase and installation.

We will analyze your project to estimate the energy savings and rebate potential. The maximum rebate possible is:
- $400 / kilowatt (kW) of electricity saved and/or
- $5 / dekatherm (Dth) saved for natural gas projects
Who Qualifies
To participate, you must:
- Be an electricity and/or natural gas business customer of Xcel Energy in Minnesota
- Not have already ordered your equipment prior to preapproval
How to Get Started
- Do not order or install anything until you complete your Custom Efficiency application and receive an official preapproval from Xcel Energy for your project
- Contact your Xcel Energy representative of our Business Solutions Center at 1-800-481-4700 for details or assistance
- Submit a rebate application and corresponding project worksheet (if available) to your Xcel Energy representative or one of our dedicated Energy Efficiency specialists at energyefficiency@xcelenergy.com or fax to 1-800-311-0500.
