Colorado businesses can earn rebates early in their construction or renovation project
Overview
Colorado businesses can take advantage of Energy Efficient Buildings (EEB), a prescriptive approach to obtaining rebates for new construction, major renovations and additions. EEB rebates are based on Xcel Energy’s prescriptive programs, such as motors, cooling, and heating. EEB also rebates for approved non-prescriptive (custom) measures which are based on Xcel Energy’s custom program. EEB is ideal for projects 50,000 square feet or less.
By reviewing your energy savings opportunities early in design, projects can begin counting on energy savings throughout the life of the building.

Take advantage of this promotional opportunity to build energy efficiency and cost savings into every project with Xcel Energy's Energy Efficient Buildings program. Coloradobusinesses can take advantage of Energy Efficient Buildings (EEB), a one-stop-shop to obtaining rebates for new construction, major renovations and additions.
For a limited time, submit a completed Energy Efficient Building (EEB) application for a new construction or major renovation project and/or a completed calculator workbook and receive up to $400 in gift certificates if the project is accepted into the EEB program.
To get started, review “Who Qualifies” below. If your project meets these program qualifications, complete the “Application, Agreement and Calculator” (Under “How to Get Started”). Send the completed and signed EEB application to businessnewconstruction@xcelenergy.com. If your project is preapproved by Xcel Energy you will receive a $200 Visa gift certificate. In addition you can receive a second gift certificate of $200, if the workbook is 75-100% complete.

- One gift certificate per application
- Limit of two gift certificates per project

Who Qualifies
To qualify, you must be:
- A business electricity or natural gas customer of Xcel Energy in Colorado.
- Constructing a new building or major renovation that is 5,000 square feet or more.
- In a construction stage prior to any award of contractor bids to purchase equipment.
- Preapproved (after completion of a qualifying application).
- Including a minimum of two system changes (such as lighting and cooling).
Details
Energy Efficient Building offers you the opportunity to review energy-efficiency measures within the building and gives you an idea of what types of rebates we can offer to help offset costs of additional conservation recommendations.
- Minimum Project Size: While this program is intended for buildings with square footage between 5,000 to 50,000 square feet, any building above 5,000 square feet may apply to the Energy Efficient Building program.
- Timing: Projects can take advantage of the Energy Efficient Building program any time prior to award of contractor bids to purchase equipment, however, are encouraged to review the process and potential rebates prior to the completion of construction documents.
- Rebates: Amounts vary depending on equipment purchased and installed. EEB prescriptive measures are based on Xcel Energy’s prescriptive programs, such as motors, cooling, and heating. EEB non-prescriptive (custom) measures are based on Xcel Energy’s custom program which currently provides up to $400 per kW and $0.04 per kWh. $4 per Dth is also offered for Xcel Energy natural gas customers.
