Choose your state

Our products and services differ based on state. Please select your state (or the state you're interested in) from the list to the left.

Why do our products and services differ based on state? Because our business is regulated by state. We have regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. The different regulatory body for each state we serve determines what products and services we deliver in that state.

Nuclear Safety

Nuclear Emergency Preparedness

We have an established and tested plan

During an emergency, nuclear plant staff will work to shut down the plant to prevent, or minimize, any release of radioactive material. Xcel Energy immediately will inform state, local and county officials about the emergency.

Both Xcel Energy and state personnel will monitor radiation levels. State emergency management and health departments will assess the situation and give radio and television stations emergency instructions for the public.

People might be advised no danger exists or that they should shelter-in-place or evacuate. The local sheriff could order an evacuation earlier if there is an immediate threat to public health and safety.
