Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

Business Customers, Receive Your Bill Electronically

Overview

Business customers, receive your energy bill electronically the day after the billing cycle is complete with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). This gives you greater access to your billing information so you can better manage your energy expenses.

Best of all, EDI is free.

We use the standard EDI-810 or Electronic Data Interchange-810 which is the electronic format common to all utilities. Technical specifications of EDI 810 are available in "Additional Information" below.

The timing of an EDI set up varies per customer. You’ll receive notification to submit a list of test accounts and after testing, we will confirm that EDI is in effect and suppress paper bills.

For increased security, choose to have your EDI account set-up through encrypted FTP or through the Value Added Network (VAN). Added costs of a VAN and any necessary translator software and hardware are your responsibility as we only send you EDI – 810 data format electronic files at no cost to you.

To enroll in EDI, see "How to Get Started" below.

Benefits

With EDI, you will receive your energy bill electronically in a special encrypted format -- the day after the billing cycle is complete, at no cost to you. For increased security, you can choose to have your EDI account set-up through encrypted FTP or through the VAN.

The benefits of EDI billing include:

  • The ability to quickly access and process billing information, conduct analysis, perform data sharing and serve your company’s accounting needs more easily.
  • Less chance of error and reduced costs for data entry, paper storage, paper tracking and mail handling.
  • Improved security and acknowledgement of receipt.
  • Improved corporate trading relationships.
