Environmental focus with the tree planting project at High Bridge
Our employees and retirees, and their families, continue to donate their time and skills to the community in the true spirit of corporate citizenship, frequently embarking on their own initiatives:
Volunteers plant trees near High Bridge
More than 100 Xcel Energy volunteers and family members teamed up with about 150 other community volunteers on Oct. 18 to plant trees near the new High Bridge Generating Station in St. Paul, MN. Volunteers planted 300 trees, 475 shrubs, 6,000 herbaceous plugs, and spread native seeds and mulch over about a half-acre near the plant. The natural landscape project will help close the gap in the Mississippi River forest canopy, improve the flyway area for North America’s migratory birds and help protect the water quality of the Mississippi River.
Our employee initiatives are as varied as the communities we serve. We are proud of their spirit and drive to improve the quality of life in our service territory.
