Choose your state

Our products and services differ based on state. Please select your state (or the state you're interested in) from the list to the left.

Why do our products and services differ based on state? Because our business is regulated by state. We have regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. The different regulatory body for each state we serve determines what products and services we deliver in that state.

Climate Reporting

Climate Reporting

We annually report our carbon dioxide emissions

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most significant greenhouse gas emission from our operations. We publicly report and make available our annual CO2 emissions in the following places:

  • The Climate Registry is a nonprofit organization established to provide consistent and transparent standards to calculate, verify and report greenhouse gas emissions into a single registry for North America. Several years ago, we signed on as a founding member because we recognize that a formal emissions reporting protocol, like the one The Climate Registry has developed, can improve the consistency, comparability and credibility of our emissions reporting. The Climate Registry has third-party verified and registered our CO2 emissions results for 2008 and 2010. We are working now on verification for past emissions, years 2005 through 2007, 2009 and 2011
  • The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent nonprofit organization that compiles information regarding greenhouse gas emissions, water usage and the business risks and opportunities presented by climate change from thousands of corporations worldwide. We have provided detailed responses to the CDP's questionnaire for the past five years. Xcel Energy is included in the Carbon Disclosure Project’s Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index based on the quality of our disclosure. 2011 was the fourth consecutive year that we have made this index.
  • Xcel Energy's Corporate Responsibility Report for 2011 contains year-to-year comparisons of our CO2 emissions. This is the eighth year we have issued a corporate social responsibility report.
  • The Xcel Energy Annual Form 10-K contains carbon reporting and a discussion of the potential business risks our company faces related to climate change.
  • Under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's new reporting requirements, we now annually file mandatory greenhouse gas reporting data.
