Choose your state

Our products and services differ based on state. Please select your state (or the state you're interested in) from the list to the left.

Why do our products and services differ based on state? Because our business is regulated by state. We have regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. The different regulatory body for each state we serve determines what products and services we deliver in that state.

Planning for the PSCo Transmission System

Planning for the PSCo Transmission System

For Colorado

Transmission Overview

Xcel Energy is the sixth largest investor-owned transmission system with more than 18,600 miles of electric transmission lines in 10 states.

Transmission lines are large power lines that move power at high voltages from power plants, where the power is made, to substations in neighborhoods. At substations, we reduce the voltage and move the power through distribution lines to homes and businesses.

We operate our transmission system on a non-discriminatory basis under the open access requirements of the federal government. All wholesale buyers and sellers of electricity can use our transmission system under the same terms and conditions used to serve Xcel Energy’s own retail customers.

In Colorado, we also operate a natural gas transmission system.

Electric Planning

We provide a high-level summaries of 10-year planning and 20-year visioning for transmission in the PSCo operating company. If you have questions or comments, please contact 1-800-895-4999.
